Alloy Steel Slitting Coils typically use Cr–Mo or low-alloy grades such as 4140-type compositions containing approximately medium carbon with chromium, molybdenum, and manganese additions for hardenability and tempering response. These elements enhance tensile strength, yield strength, fatigue resistance, and abrasion resistance while preserving sufficient ductility for slitting and subsequent forming. In normalized or quenched-and-tempered conditions, such coils can reach tensile strengths in the mid-600 MPa range with yield strengths around 400 MPa, alongside good toughness and dimensional stability in strip form suitable for high-speed processing lines.
